Providence Acres Pet Directory

December 16th, 2011 by admin No comments »

We have gotten several requests for a neighborhood pet directory.

See the pages section (far right of page in RED) or click on Pet Directory in the green bar at the top of the page for a gallery of the neighborhood pets.

Please note that once you select “Pet Directory” in order to view the pets information there is an “i” in the upper left corner of the image gallery. Click on that to see the pets name and owners.

Let me know what you think.

Still alive

The last commissioners meeting allowed for the exploration of the tank solution vs the water tower. With one hitch, the county commissioners want to know how much Weddington is willing to pay for this.

As of today, there is only one vote to support this. Mayor Nancy Anderson still believes the town should pay the difference between the two versions.

The next commissioners meeting is 9/19 and is likely to have a final vote on this issue. We really could use all the support we can get. Please make plans to attend this very important meeting.

Union County Board Meeting September 6th

August 30th, 2011 by admin No comments »

Reminder to try and attend this meeting. The more people that show up and express their opinion about this the better. A group of us including some friends from Stratford are meeting at the coffee house on Newtown/Providence at 6:00pm on Wednesday August 31st at 6:00pm. Please try to make it if you can.

Current status of the water tower issue

August 25th, 2011 by admin No comments »

A group of Providence Acres neighbors are continuing to fight the decision to put the water tower at 345 S Providence Rd. We have met with Weddington Council members to discuss options. We have also been in touch with several Union County Board members and expressed our concerns about this tower.

We have offered up alternatives and are willing to talk to anyone that will listen.

The situation is this: I believe some kind of water storage facility is going on that property. We don’t agree with this decision. Many of the residents here think it will negatively affect our property values as well as our quality of life. Our group (not the PAHOA) is working with Stratford on Providence to fight this. But we are doing it the right way. By being respectful to all the council and board members.

If you do not want this tower 1000 ft from our neighborhood, I urge you contact the Weddington Town council and the Union County Board. Keep in mind, it is in the county’s hands. But we suggest keeping in touch with the town of Weddington leaders as we may need their help to find a solution.

Below are all the contacts for both groups. Please contact them to let them know you do not support the tower and urge them to find a better solution.

WSOC is doing a piece on our situation tonight!

August 9th, 2011 by admin No comments »

Tune in to WSOC channel 9 news tonight. Kathryn Burcham was nice enough to give some time to our situation. She interviewed me today at my home. Reviewing what went on at the zoning meeting last night. Also drumming up why the board did what they did.
Our town council should be ashamed of what and how they pulled this off.

Union County/Weddington Council meeting on Water Tower

July 15th, 2011 by admin No comments »

Do you want something like this in YOUR backyard?

From a conversation with Jordon Cook, Weddington Town Planner. (fyi  his email: jcook@townofweddington.com – phone # 704-846-2709, Mon.,Wed., & Fri 9a.m. – 1p.m.)

1.  August 8th  at 7p.m.@ Town Hall is the scheduled date/time/place for a Public Hearing on the
subject of the proposed Union Co. Water Tower to be located beside First Baptist Church of Weddington on the property where the recent road paving equipment was located.

2.  There will be a work session with the council members, Mayor Anderson and Union County Utility Dept representatives on Wednesday, July 20th from 5p.m. – 7p.m. at Town Hall.  This work session is open to the public.  This is not an opportunity for the public to ask questions but to listen, learn and gather information and hopefully strengthen our case against the location of the proposed Water Tower.

Hope we can make a good showing at this meeting. Hope to have a flier out this weekend to let the entire neighborhood know about this meeting.
